The Purcell School (ISIS no. 0865) was founded in 1962 through the inspiration of Rosemary Rapaport and Irene Forster. Its essential purpose, to educate young musicians of outstanding talent and promise, remains the same today. It is one of four specialist music schools in England which are supported by the Government's Music and Ballet Scheme. In the summer of 1997, the School moved from Harrow to its spacious and well-equipped new home in Bushey, Herts.
