Born in the Netherlands, he is now a member of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra's oboe section and living in Kuala Lumpur.

He has spent many years living and working in Asia, including Indonesia and more recently Thailand, where he was Principal Oboe of the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra during the mid '90s when John Georgiadis was BSO Music Director.

Joost is also a specialist with the Cor Anglais.
