Sophie Wang began playing the violin at the age of four in her native China where she has achieved considerable success and acclaim. Sophie's musical talent was recognised and encouraged by her family and teachers from an early age. She attended Nanjing Music School and then Shanghai Conservatoire where she graduated with a BA (Hons) in Music Performance in June 2002. In September 2002 she came to England to study for an MA at Huddersfield University where she gained the highest marks for performance ever awarded.

Her performance experience has included eight months as a soloist with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. She has also played with the Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra in Suzhou and Nanjing, China, the Chinese Film Orchestra and the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra. Sophie is now embarking on a career as a soloist in the UK, launched by a successful lunchtime recital at Salford University with the exceptional pianist Graham Scott.
