Vadim Gluzman is among the most dynamic and thrilling violinists of his generation having established himself as an international artist of great depth, virtuosity and technical brilliance. He is consistently lauded for performing with "a commanding technique, spontaneity, and visionary breadth capable of both delicate nuances and incendiary passion" (The Washington Post). He has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Russia, Japan, and Canada, as a soloist, chamber musician, and in a duo setting with his wife, pianist Angela Yoffe.

In 1991, 16-year-old Vadim Gluzman was granted five minutes to play for the great Isaac Stern. Five minutes later, a wonderful friendship was born. Through Mr. Stern's recommendation, the America-Israel Cultural Foundation loaned Vadim Gluzman the Pietro Guarneri violin. Since then, Mr. Gluzman was named recipient of the prestigious Henryk Szeryng Foundation 1994 Career Award. In 1996, he became the owner of a bow from the Szeryng collection. He now plays the outstanding 1690 ex-Leopold Auer Stradivari on extended loan to him through the generosity of the Stradivari Society of Chicago.

In April 2001, Vadim Gluzman appears in Carnegie Hall, performing Wieniawskiâs Faust Fantasy with the Columbus (OH) Symphony under Alessandro Siciliani. Also during Mr. Gluzman's exciting 2000-2001 season are debuts with the Minnesota Orchestra under Claus Peter Flor and Utah Symphony under James Judd, as well as performances with the Charlotte, Waterbury and Puerto Rico Symphonies. He also makes his début tour of Australia as well as third consecutive tour in Japan. In Europe, he appears with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony, Ludwigshafen Philharmonie, Bern Symphony, Orchestra della Svizzerra Italiana, Iceland Symphony, Trieste and Valencia Symphonies. Mr. Gluzman appears in recital throughout the United States, as well as in Germany, France, and Israel.

Mr. Gluzman's 1999-2000 season engagements included a return to Japan to perform with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and in recital, a return to the Cincinnati Symphony, a performance with the Ravinia Festival Orchestra and debuts with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Florida Philharmonic, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Syracuse Symphony and Omaha Symphony, as well as at Leipzig's Gewandhaus with the MDR Orchestra. In recital he performed at The Kennedy Center, Parisâ Theatre du Chatelet and in Chicago, Boston and Bonn. In April 2000, Mr. Gluzman performed as the featured soloist in the Hall of the General Assembly of the United Nations for the convocation of the exhibit Visas for Life.

His appearances as a soloist have also included performances with the Chicago Symphony at Orchestra Hall, the Houston Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Boston Pops, English String Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic, KREMERATA Baltica, the Winterthur Orchestra, Orchestre de Colonne in Paris, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Salzburg Kammerphilharmonie, NDR Hannover, the Dusseldorf Symphony Orchestra and Saarbruchen Radio Orchestra. He appeared in two consecutive seasons in a recital at Parisâ Salle Gaveau, and performed in Monaco, Israel, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Poland, and Portugal. He has also given numerous recitals with Angela Yoffe in New York City, Chicago's Ravinia Festival, St. Louis, and Canada.

He has played under the baton of the late Lord Yehudi Menuhin, James DePreist, Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Alessandro Siciliani, John Nelson, Keith Lockhart, Heinrich Schiff, Robert Bernhardt, Junichi Hirokami, Enrique Arturo Diemecke, Leif Bjaland, Djansung Kakhidze, Salvador Mas Conde, Philippe Bender, Hubert Soudant, Mendi Rodan and Uri Segal.

Vadim Gluzman has been a top prize-winner at the Corpus Christi International Competition, the Irving Klein International String Competition (San Francisco), the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition in Switzerland, and the CIEM Geneva International Competition. In 1994, Mr. Gluzman was featured at the Verbier International Music Festival, Switzerland and at the Festival de Radio France & Montpellier and at a special gala concert conducted by Lord Yehudi Menuhin in Rome.

Vadim Gluzman has two recordings on the Koch International label. One includes music of Beethoven, Brahms, and the very seldom-recorded Sonata in E by Paul Hindemith. The other disc features the world premiere of the Violin Concerto by Richard Rodney Bennett with the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by James DePreist. He has also recorded and appeared internationally for radio and television.

Born in 1973 in the city of Zhitomir, Ukraine into a family of professional musicians, Mr. Gluzman began studying the violin at the age of seven. Before moving to Israel in 1990, he studied with Zakhar Bron and later with Yair Kless at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel-Aviv. He has also studied in the United States with Arkady Fomin and in the Juilliard School with Dorothy DeLay and Masao Kawasaki.
