Silvia Crastan was born 1971 in Basel. After studying in Switzerland with the violinists Nicolas Chumachenco, Corrado Romano and Ulrich Lehmann she got her "diplom d'enseignement" and a concert diploma.
Silvia has been awarded Scholarships from the "Dienemann-Stiftung" (Luzern) and the municipality Evilard ( Fond Suri).
More recently she made further studies in London at the "Guildhall School of Music and Drama" studying with Ifrah Neaman (Violin), David Dolan (Improvisation), Alan Hazeldine (Conducting) 1999/2001.
She has attended masterclasses with Victor Pikaisen, Wanda Wilkomirska (Baden, Baden), Pierre Amoyal and in 1995 she was invited to the European Mozart Academy in Krakow (Poland).
At the "Swiss Youth Competition", the "International Youth Competition of Citta di Stresa" (Italy) and at the "Festival du Jura" she gained the 3rd prize.
Orchestra experience: Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra, Swiss Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of the Mozart Academy (Krakow), Guildhall School Symphony Orchestra (London), Symphony Orchestra of Biel, Sinfonietta Lausanne, Sinfonietta Basel, Symphonisches Orchester Zuerich.
