SANTE TURSI was born in Bari (Italy), where he studied at the "N. Piccinni" Conservatory, obtaining a first-class diplom summa cum laude.
He continued his studies with Alirio Diaz, Josè Tomàs and Manuel Barrueco.
Then he studied three years with Oscar Ghiglia at the Chigiana Academy in Siena (Italy) with a scolarship and there was awarded three diplomas of merit.
Subsequent to this he followed the three-years course held by O. Ghiglia at the Musik- Akademie, Basle, obtaining the Solisten-Diplom.
He was prize winner in several international competitions; Segovia in Granada, Gargnano and Alessandria International Competitions (where he also obtained the Alirio Diaz special prize).
He was the winner of the 1.st prize at the 33rd Tokyo International Guitar Competition.
Sante Tursi has played in Europe, Asia and America, in the most important cities and festivals (Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, A. Ginastera Days at Argentinian Embassy in Rome, Walton Foundation, Japan guitar Association Music Festival in Tokyo, Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico, Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes orchestra in Mexico City, Festival Guitar in Russia in Voronezh, Erlbach Guitar Festival, Royal Festival Hall in London, Teatro Colòn in Buenos Aires,etc.).
As well as giving Master Class courses, Sante Tursi teachs guitar at the "N. Piccinni" Conservatory in Bari.
He has released two CD's for Rainbow: one on XIX century chamber music and another entirely dedicated to M. M. Ponce.
