The ensemble was founded owing to visit to Ukraine of the Estonian President Mr. Arnold R̹̹tel. Four young ladies - the artists of the Veriovka Choir - were proposed to create an ensemble for the short time to take part in chamber concert for the visit of Estonian leader. During the concert in Mariinsky Palace (Kyiv) new Ensemble performed Ukrainian TransCarpathian folk song "When I was young" in arrangement of Zenovii Korinets. Performance admired the high persons, but not only. Thus, artists undoubtedly decided to make the permanent Ensemble.
Then ladies worked to create repertoire for the concerts. This time fifth lady joined the Ensemble and soon she became the leader of the Ensemble. Thus, the Ladies' Vocal Quintet "Ukrania" was found on the ground of The Veriovka Ukrainian National Song and Dance Ensemble (Veriovka Choir) in the end of 2002. Now the artists of the Quintet are: academic soprano - Olena Lukashova, Anastasiya Kravchenko (leader), folk soprano - Valentyna Nyanko, folk alto - Nataliya Zubok, Nataliya Sozanska.
During the performance process the Ensemble found own style for the performing Ukrainian folk songs owing to mix of the folk and academic vocal, and to arrangement by modern composers: Zenovii Korinets, Volodymyr Stetsenko, Ihor Shamo, Volodymyr Mikhnovetsky, Iryna Khitriakova, Oleksandr Nekrasov etc.
The first solo-concert by the full quintet took place in Mariinsky Palace (Kyiv) 01 December 2002 for the official visit to Ukraine of the Slovakian President Mr. Rudolf Shuster with wife. The Honoured Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko (accordion) assisted to create the festive spirit of the visit.
November 14, 2003. "Ukrania" quintet was awarded the medal "For the achievements in development of culture and arts" (the award of Ukrainian Ministry of culture and arts).
