Sarah grew up in Leeds and began singing from an early age, learning to play guitar and flute from the age of ten. She had various musical influences along the way, playing flute in a jazz big band and orchestra and performing solo classical guitar, as well as listening to traditional Irish folk music passed onto her by her mother.
From the ages of 14 - 16 she sang in an 11 piece female Madrigal Group at school and performed at weddings and funerals, amongst other venues.
Since leaving school she played flute and sang in jazz/funk band, Jiggerup playing at local and national venues up and down the country.
She later moved on to play in world music band, Substation - which had an eclectic mix of Indian, Irish and African players. They played at gigs and festivals, including Glastonbury in 1997 and 1998 where they provided music and drum workshops.
Sarah left the band in 1998 and travelled around Europe, writing, busking and playing at venues mainly in France and Spain. She settled in Granada for a while and played alongside flamenco duo, Yuta y Moshe gaining regular gigs with a fiddle player.
Later she travelled around South East Asia, including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Laos - writing songs which she has since recorded.
Sarah returned to Leeds in 2000 and started to perform her own material solo at local pubs and festivals, as well as making a living from facilitating music groups in schools and community settings. She also practices sculpture and has had exhibitions both in Britain and the USA.
In the last couple of years, Sarah has continued to gig and has recorded three CDs, along with cello and violin players, as well as percussionists and bass players. One of her songs has been played on Radio 1 by John Peel and she also collaborates with other artists and works on installations fusing sculpture, film and music and continues to experiment both artistically and musically.
