Kostowa Giesecke Percussion Duo

Born in Neumuenster (near Hamburg), grew up in Göttingen (both Germany, Europe).
Starting piano lessons at age 6, first timpani displaying in church orchestras at age 11. More than 10 years of singing in childrens'´ and grown-ups´ choruses.
Private studies in jazz drums with Abbey Rader (USA)
Private studies in classical percussion with Marcus Linke, Hanover (Germany)
Formal education as a conductor of choruses and orchestras (exam "with distinction"). Principal instrument: classical percussion, studies with Martin Amthor
Formal music studies (main subject: classical percussion, side subject: piano) at the State University of Music in Wuerzburg (Germany), among others with Prof. Dr. h.c. Siegfried Fink.
Active participant in many masterclasses and jazz workshops, private studies among others in Hamburg, Berlin and New York City´s "Drummers´Collective", with Wolfgang Schlueter, David Friedman, Michael Lauren and Joe Locke, among others.
As a member of chamber music ensembles like the "Consortium Classicum", the "Young German Chamber Soloists", the "Percussion Ensemble Siegfried Fink" and many others, and as a soloist, especially in the "Kostowa-Giesecke-Duo", he made broadcasts for radio and TV for almost all public German and many stations abroad.
Concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, France, USA.
Conductor of seminars and (master)classes for renowned institutions in Germany and abroad.
His compositions and music-related books as well as arrangements are published by various renowned music publishers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, and the USA, for publishers in Switzerland he serves as an editor, for publishers in Germany as a lecturer and reviewer.
Teaching experience since 1982, since 1987 at music schools of the German Music Schools´ Association (VdM), since 91 head of the percussion department at Mosbach Music School near Heidelberg, Germany, Europe. Students´ successes: numerous "Jugend-musiziert" ("youth displays music") prizes on regional level (both Neckarsulm and Heidelberg), Baden-Württembergischer state level (Tübingen), qualification for participation in "Jugend-musiziert"-Bundeswettbewerb (Hamburg, June 2001), winner of the Gisela-Kwasny Music Competition, participation winner at the 1. prize of the "Toto-Lotto Musical Theater Competition", passed audition and invitation in the "Baden-Württemberg State Youth Wind Orchestra" and the "Baden-Württemberg State Youth Symphony Orchestra", passed auditions in first instrument "percussion instruments" at four different professional music education institutes (Berufsfachschulen für Musik Dinkelsbühl and Bad Königshofen, State Universities of Music in Düsseldorf and Würzburg, all Germany, Europe).
Development of numerous own music pedagogic concepts, including:
Giesecke volunteers in professional percussionists´ associations, since 1995 as consultant for vibraphone with "Percussion Creativ e.V." and since 1997 as president of the Germany section of the world´s percussionists´ association, the "Percussive Arts Society" (P.A.S.).
As a music theorist, Giesecke developed and wrote an own approach of a jazz harmony method in eight years of work, and lectured on it at the State Universities of Music in Wuerzburg and Frankfurt/Main. His method, "A New Key To Bop Harmony", was also introduced to the professional jazz educators at the world conference of the "International Association of Jazz Educators" (IAJE) in Los Angeles (USA) in 1999.
As a jazz soloist, he worked in duet projects with Ingolf Burkhardt (trumpet soloist NDR-Bigband Hamburg) and with the German jazz world star Prof. Dr. Karl Berger, Woodstock, NY, USA, head of the jazz department at the State University of Music in Frankfurt/Main.
His main book, "Clever ueben, sinnvoll proben, erfolgreich vorspielen", for all musicians regardless of instrument, is published only in German, up to now, opposite to "Compendium of 4-mallet techniques", which he co-authored with his wife, and which is also available as a special English language edition.
