St. George Strings

The Chamber Orchestra of St. George Strings was founded in Belgrade in 1992. A group of young people, most of whom are former students of the Cuprija School for Especially Gifted Students, as well as the Belgrade Faculty of Music, decided to dedicate themselves to chamber music under the leadership of their Artistic Director and Conductor, Professor PETAR IVANOVIC, who is a distinguished musician and teacher, currently professor at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.

St. George Strings have performed over 500 concerts in the country and abroad, presenting to their audiences a wide musical repertoire, including a number of pieces by contemporary composers. The orchestra has collaborated with distinguished soloists and conductors. The members themselves have performed either as soloists, or in chamber music groups, which gives them special opportunities.

All the performances of St. George Strings have been highly acclaimed by their audiences and by the music critics. Their recordings for radio and TV, as well as their nine CDs, reflect the impact of their performances.

Especially important concert appearances include their London debut at a concert for UNICEF, 1st prize at the International Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Belgrade, concert tours in Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Holland and Macedonia, as well as their appearances at renowned festivals in the country and abroad.
