Michael Shakespeare, string instrument maker and repairer, originally trained in Graphic Design, but felt his first love was to string musical instruments so transferred his studies and took a place at the London College of Furniture which lasted from 1978 - 1981.
After leaving the college he went to work at J.P. Guivier & Co at 99 Mortimer Street where he stayed for eight years. It was after gaining all this knowledge and experience at Guivier's that he decided to start his own business. His clients are the top professionals in the UK and he is accepted as a master maker and restorer. He now also teaches at the London College of Furniture (now Guildhall University).
His workshop is in Blackheath Village where he offers a wide range of services in making and restoring.
