Sharon Niessen (1986) is born in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. At the age of 9, she started taking piano lessons with Suzanne van Dijk. When she was 14 years old she was a student in the Young Talent Class at the Fontys Conservatory Tilburg. This year she passed her exams and now she continues
her study full time with Ton Demmers.
She won several prizes on competitions: Petrof Concours (2000), Provincial Competition of the SJMN (2002), Prinses Christina Competition (2001,2004), semi-finals YPF Piano Competition (2004) and Young Talent Competition of the Philipshall Eindhoven. The last mentioned competition leaded to a performance with the Helikon Orchestra under direction of Kian Pin Hiu in the Philipshall. The next year (2003) she had a succesful performance too with the Dutch Promenade Orchestra under direction of Jurre Haanstra, in the same hall. With finalists of the Princess Christina Competition she gave a concert in the Carnegie Recital Hall in New York. Sharon made a "tour" with the YouthOrchestra of the Netherlands where she performed Franz Liszt, 1st Piano Concerto in prestigious halls in The Netherlands. She gave many concerts, and was performing on radio and television.
She followed masterclasses too, among others with pianists Rian de Waal, Igor Roma and Ronald Brautigam.
Sharon formes a duo with violinist Josine Jansen. She studies with Coosje Wijzenbeek at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague.
So Sharon regularly gives concerts as a duo and solo pianist.
