Grzegorz Niemczuk is performing in many European countries like Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Croatia and Great Britain both as a soloist and chamber musician. His outstanding debut in Italy last year (which took place in Casale di Monferrato just after Vercelli Competition), ended with standing ovation, resulted in invitation for recitals in the famous Museo Borgogna at Vercelli.

Born on 11 April 1985, he started playing the piano at the age of 7 with Barbara Klikiewicz, at the Music School in Tychy. During his first six years of studying he was given some prizes at interschool and Polish piano competitions for young musicians: in Zabrze(distinction), Warsaw and Chorzow(2nd prize).

In 2004 he finished with distinction the K. Szymanowski Music College of the 2nd degree in Katowice and at his graduation concert he performed the 1st movement of the Piano Concerto in B flat minor op. 23 by P. Il. Tchaikovsky with the Symphonic Orchestra of his Music College.

At present he is a 5th year student of the Academy of Music in Katowice and since 2001 he has been working with Professor JOZEF STOMPEL (prize winner of International Chopin’s Piano Competition in Warsaw, George Enescu Piano Competition in Bucuresti). He also finished his studies in chamber music under Professor REGINA MICHALAK.

He developed his music skills at music courses where he worked with such artists as JOSEPH BANOVETZ, MENAHEM PRESSLER, PHILIPPE ENTREMONT, PETER DONOHOE, MYKOLA SUK, JEFFREY SWANN, JOAQUIN ACHUCARRO, YUAN SHENG, ALEXANDER KOBRIN, ALBERTO NOSE, RUDOLF BERNATIK, ANDRZEJ JASINSKI, ALEKSIEJ ORLOVETSKY, JEROME ROSE, ADAM WODNICKI, KRYSTIAN ZIMERMAN.

Grzegorz Niemczuk is the winner of many prizes at national and international piano competitions:

2000 - Distinction at the National Piano Competition in Konin(Poland)

2003 -  I Prize at the 6th International Silesian Piano Competition in Zabrze(Poland)

2004 -  Distinction and special prize(for the best interpretation of M.Magin’s work) and the 1st Interschool Chopin’s Piano Competition in memory of Milosz Magin in Lodz(Poland)

2005 - III Prize at the 4th International Chopin Piano Competition in Varna(Bulgaria)

2006 -  III Prize at the National Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw

2007 - I Prize at the 11th International Piano Competition “Stefano Marizza” in Trieste (Italy) (“awarded for his refined kind of piano playing and for the expressive nobility which shine through his interpretations” )

2008 - The Laureate of Janet and William Schwartz Scholarship Award in New York

Since 2001 he has received the Scholarship of the Mayor of Tychy and was the holder of the scholarships of the President of the Council of Ministers(2003), the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2003/2004, 2007/2008) and the Polish Children’s Fund(2003/2004).
