Born in France, Michel Mañanes started piano lessons at the age of six.  A brilliant student, he went on to study at the Conservatoire National in Paris - with Profesor Jacques-Dupont, winning various awards via the Royaume de la Musique.He returns to his parent's homeland to participate in various contests and receive a grant to finish his studies in Madrid.  In 1992, the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided him with the opportunity to spend four years at the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna.

Mañanes has performed in France, Austria, Hungary, Italy, England, Portugal and Spain.  And has participated in the "Neujarskonzert" in Vienna.  He regularly plays with the Freiburg Chamber Orchestra. 

Currently living in Santander, Spain; Mañanes teaches piano and works as a music critic, while continuing his activities as a concert pianist.
