Dawn Hardwick hails from Mid Glamorgan in South Wales. She began learning the piano at the age of 6, and at 15 was awarded a Government grant to study piano at Chetham‚s School of Music, Manchester, with Alicja Fiderkiewicz.
Following this, Dawn gained her Bachelor of Music degree with Honours at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. During her time here Dawn won numerous prizes including the concerto competition, which allowed her to perform Gershwin‚s ŒConcerto in F‚ with the college Symphony Orchestra at St. David's Hall, Cardiff. As a result of this performance, Dawn was asked to be the soloist in both Gershwin‚s ŒRhapsody in Blue‚ and Stravinsky‚s ŒConcerto for piano and wind instruments‚.
Currently a pupil of Julian Jacobson, Dawn is now studying for a Master‚s Degree in Advanced Performance at the Royal College of Music, London, where she has already been awarded a Postgraduate Diploma.
As a soloist and recitalist, Dawn has played all over the country, including prestigious venues such as St. David‚s Hall and London‚s Purcell Room. She is extremely interested in contemporary music, and has worked closely with many composers such as John Metcalf, Kenneth Hesketh, Edwin Roxburgh and Mark-Anthony Turnage.
In addition to solo and concerto work, Dawn is an experienced orchestral musician, performing regularly with the RCM Symphony Orchestra, The New Perspectives Ensemble and Southbank Sinfonia to name a few.
