"...incomparably luxuriant in sound with extraordinary technique and sensitivity."
The famous pianist Ronal Turini, student of Vladimir Horowitz, stated in July 1987 "I have heard Carlos Gallardo in concert, in Canada. He is a very talented and promising young artist of the piano. He gave an exceptionally musical and exciting performance."
Carlos Gallardo, Spanish pianist, began his piano study at six and at the early age of twelve he studied composing. During his academic years in Spain he won top prizes in several national competitions and received his Piano Graduated Degree with the First Prize Honor. He was also awarded with First Prize Honor in Chamber Music and Violin Degrees. He was a student of Josep Colom, Camen Deleito, Manuel Carra, Lazar Berman, Boris Zarankin, Dimitri Bashkirov, Robin Wood, Robin McCabe, Jean Paul Sevilla and Ervin Luckas in The Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, in St. Michael University of Victoria in Canada and in the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he studied with Bela Siki and Kalman Drafi (custodian of the Franz Liszt School that are credited with producing many extraordinary twentieth-century keyboard masters such as Horowitz and Arrau).
Gallardo won top prizes in the Young Artist L´Salle and Baudout International Piano Competition and since then has performed frequently with leading orchestras around the world and he has appeared as a recitalist at major festivals and concert halls. He has performed at the Kisterem Franz Liszt in Hungary, Manuel de Falla Concert Hall, Washington Irving Centre of USA, the Sculpture National Museum in Spain, Victoria University Centre Auditorium in Canada, Palais Villena to name few. While still in Spain, England, France, Holland, USA, Canada, Hungary and Japan was appointed concert solo pianist and professor in several piano master classes.
Gallardo continued to impress audiences and critics alike and several more important prizes as the Spanish Cultural Ministry, the Russian Cultural Ministry, the Hungarian Cultural Ministry, the Shawnigan Canadian Foundation, the Junta Castilla y León Foundation and the Isaac Albeniz Foundation.
In 1993, Carlos Gallardo moved to Hungary where he made his home and made his debut in Budapest in May 1994 with great acclaim. Recitals across the country soon started to materialize. That indescribable "something extra", which is so evident in his concerts, made an immediate impact on audiences and he is now firmly established as one of Spanish most prized performers and now counted in the ranks of Spanish leading concert pianist.
