Ivo Boytchev is considered today as one of Bulgaria’s leading talents.
Born in 1970,Mr. Boytchev began his musical studies at the age of 5 at the “Music School for Arts” in Varna with Rumena Penkova.In 1989 he entered the “State Academy of Music” in Sofia studying with MarinaKapatsinskaia. He graduated in 1984, receiving his diploma “with excellence”.
In 1995 he moved to Holland where he studied at the Conservatory in Enschede with Christo Iliev, and the Conservatory in Utrecht with Alan Weiss, where he graduated with special honours in 2000.
Since Autumn 2000 , following a warm recommendation of Marta Argerich , Mr Boytchev was invited to attend the prestigious “Theo Lieven” International Piano Foundation at the shores of Lake Como, in Northern Italy. In this inspiring environment, as one of only 8 promising young pianists from around the world, Mr. Boytchev was able to enjoy private Masterclasses with such eminent musicians as Leon Fleisher, Dmitri Bashkirov, Fou Ts’ong ,William Grant Nabore, Charles Rosen, Andreas Staier, Claude Frank among others.
Mr. Boytchev’s concert career includes many solo and chamber music recitals in Bulgaria , Holland, Italy. Among them numerous recitals in his native town Varna, as well as in Sofia and other cities around Bulgaria. In Holland he performed in Utrecht’s Conservatory main concert hall, as well as in Enschede and in Hernen Castle near Arnhem. He recently performed with students of the Utrecht’s Conservatory at the International Max RegerFestival in Weiden (Reger’s home town) in Germany, and gave his Italian debut playing a recital during the PianoFestival organised by the International Piano Foundation and performed recitals in Stresa and Venice. In july 2001 he performed solo recitals in Bulgaria’ Summer Music Festival in Sofia and in Varna. In July – august 2001 he received a full scholarship offered by The Verbier Festival&Academy where he attended the Piano Masterclasses of Dmitri Bashkirov and Stephen Kovacevich and had solo and chamber music performances in various concerts organised by The Verbier Festival & Academy.
Mr. Boytchev made his orchestral debute at the age of 17 with the Varna Philharmonic Orchestra playing Mozart’s Concerto in A –KV 488. He went on playing the Beethoven “Emperor” Concerto with the VratsaPhilharmonic Orchestra. During his studies at the “State Academy of Music” in Sofia, Mr. Boytchev was selected by the Academy Faculty to play Liszt Concerto Nr.1 with the State Academy Orchestra.
He graduated from the Conservatory in Enschede (Holland) playing the Grieg Concerto with a special orchestra formed by members of the “Orkest van het Oosten” and students from the Conservatory.
In June 2000 Mr. Boytchev was invited to play the Grieg Concerto with the Varna Philharmonic Orchestra..
In March 2002 he has performed the Mozart Concerto in A- KV 414 with the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen (Germany).
In febr.2003 he appeared as a soloist in Beethoven’s Emperor piano concerto with the Sumen Philharmonic Orchestra (Bulgaria)
In the 2003-2004 concert season he has planned recitals and performances with Orchestras in Holland, Italy(Venice) and Bulgaria (summer festivals in Sofia and Varna).
