An 'academic honors' and performance distinction' graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston where he earned his M.M.and G.D., Mr. Athanasakos was also a D.M.A. fellow at Indiana University and a special A.D. guest at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris as the First-Prize winner of the 'Concours Clidat-Talmart'. Athanasakos was also an A.Onassis Foundation scholar, a grantee of the Bodosakis Foundation, a scholarship recipient of the Banff Center of the Arts in Canada, an honored participant at the International Festival of Nice, and an award winner of the New York Hellenic Times, Athanasiadis Foundation in New York, Goulandris Museum of Art and the Athens Conservatory. He has performed as soloist in prestigious concert halls and festivals and has presented recitals, chamber music concerts and lectures in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich, Frankfurt, Rome, Milan, Murcia, Athens, Salonica, as well as on National Public TV/Radio Broadcasts and Internet TV/Radio Networks. His list of invitations includes Carnegie's Weill Hall, Wigmore Hall, Jordan Hall, Cite des Arts,
the Northeastern and Harvard Universities, Pierce College and American College of Greece, the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and numerous embassies.
