On the latter, a magnificant and recently totally restored instrument, Ton performed the prestigious and virtuoso Eighth Organ Symphony by Charles-Marie Widor during the Organ Festival Limburg 1998. This work he has now recorded at the organ of Rochester Cathedral, restored by Mander in 1989, for his new CD, visit his website for more information. Ton Reijnaerdts' debut CD, Ton Reijnaerdts plays Héroïque, Franck and other romantic organ works, was profiled in the Dutch Magazine "De Orgelvriend".
Ton Reijnaerdts is an able and talented organist and he is especially known for his interpretation of romantic organ music i.e. Mendelssohn, Franck, Widor, Gigout, Vierne, Jehan Alain, Langlais, Messiaen. He is also known for recitals of more traditional music: J.S. Bach & C.P.E. Bach, Buxtehude and also ancient music: Sweelink, William Byrd, Cabezon, Cabanilles, Frescobaldi, de Grigny, etc. Ton has made three CDs with both early and romantic repertoire. The first one is a recording on the Pereboom & Leijser organs at Maastricht-Wijck and Elsloo, the second CD is recorded on the Le Picard organ at Gronsveld and the De Rijckere organ at Beek (both CD's are made of organs in the Dutch province of Limburg). The third is a CD with Widor's 8th Symphony played at Rochester Cathedral in the UK.
Ton was actively involved in the publication of the book PEREBOOM & LEIJSER, ORGAN BUILDERS IN MAASTRICHT, written by Frans Jespers and published in the Netherlands. In fact it was Ton and his friend Henk van Loo who initiated the making of the book.
