Omar Caputi, born in Torino, brilliantly won the diploma in Organ and Organ Composition at the "G.F.Ghedini" Academy of Music in Cuneo, studying under Massimo Nosetti. His specialist studies in ancient French music have been with Françoise Delor and Renè Saorgin. Due to his interest in the ancient and modern romantic musical literature he persued advanced studies with Daniel Roth and Lionel Rogg. In 1997, after 10 years of service, has was appointed Co-Titular Organist of the Sanctuary of Saint Rita in Turin. Deeply committed to children's education, he works as a teacher and as chorus director at the "S.E.S Duca degli Abruzzi" school which has a choir of 60 children.
Omar Caputi's concert playing, which is mostly in Europe, and his work as composer and transcriber, has attracted universal praise from the critics. His transcriptions of the Brandenburg Concerti have been performed in: Paris (Saint Eustache), Los Angeles (Crystal Cathedral), Lipsia (Gewandhouse), Montreux (Svizzera) and Torino (Italy). His debut as composer was in June 1998, with the public performance of the Alleluia for chorus and organ in Saint Pietro's in the Vatican. The Italian publishing house Carrara has published his music for organ and for choir and organ, such as his Alleluia.
In September 2000 he recorded a new CD with BNL in France, including the Brandenburg Concerts.
