Michael Klubertanz was born in Lower Franconia Nov 25th 1968. He received a musical training from an early age, taking lessons in piano, organ and singing. Whilst still at school he achieved grade D and C diplomas as a church-musician.
Extensive activities as a pianist, church-musician and choirmaster accompanied his schooling up to the Abitur 1988 in his hometown Würzburg. There he also began his professional studies at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg with Professor Günther Wich (conducting), Professor Peter Falk (opera), and Professor Norman Shetler (piano).
In 1992 he achieved his diploma as Kapellmeister. In the same year he started his first full-time engagement as vocal coach and conductor at the Heidelberg Theatre as well as being Principal Conductor of the Instrumentalverein Darmstadt (a symphony orchestra with concerts in the Darmstadt State Theatre) from 1993-95, until he became Kapellmeister, Studienleiter (chef du chant) and assistant of the General Music Director of the Heidelberg Theatre in '95.
Michael Klubertanz has led numerous operatic and symphonic productions with the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra, including a very popular educational series, with great acclaim. Michael KIubertanz is repeatedly guesting with the Hamburg and Nuremberg Symphony orchestras and has led many of Germany 's municipal orchestras. Summer '98 found him assisting for Charles Dutoit with the Orchestre Philharmonique Suisse and he has recently been invited to guest-conduct at the renowned Schleswig-Holstein-Musikfestival.
He has been lecturing contemporary music as a guest at the pedagogic institute of Heidelberg University and received a scholarship from the Richard-Wagner Foundation at Bayreuth.
His own arrangements for orchestra have found acclaim with organisations as different as the Bayerischer Rundfunk or the Hof Film Festival.
His widespread repertoire covers many styles and epoches, from the very classical up to contemporary avantgarde-music.
