Guglielmo Diliberto, was born in Turin and is a graduate of his home town music accademy specializing in the Violin, Choral and Orchestral Conducting and Composition. He started studying singin and piano aged five and was not eleven when russian conductor Vladimir Delman spotted him and offered him his solo singing debut in the Rossini opera "Italiana in Algeri" at the Teatro Regio, Turin. He subsequently participated in seven further operatic productions together with, among others, Lovro Von Matacic and José Carreras. In 1989 he was aworded a grant to study violin, in 1990 he recorded a CD "Romantic Arias" and in 1992 he was commended at the European Music Competition leading to his working with numerous orchestras such as
The Italian Philharmonic as part of which he filmed the complete Mozart symphonies. He is particularly active as a composer, in fact since 1993 he has produced three CD (RAI-Fonit Cetra label) and two soundtracks for documentary transmissions for the Italian state broadcaster RAI. In 1996 made his debut in France as an Orchestra Conductor and was immediately charged to direct important works, such as Bellini's "Sonnambula" at an occasion making the 20th anniversary of the death of Maria Callas, he also toured with the Turin Philharmonic Orchestra and was charged with the Musical Direction of "A Gift from Music" an important charity cultural occasion organized by the Italian Red Cross following which he was given an award for artistic merit and, on the recommendation of Salvatore Accardo, he received a personal invitation from Charles Dutoit, the principal Conductor of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
He graduated with distinction in only two years under the guidance of maestro Yuri Ahronovitch and following an intense period of work which led him to the podium of the Turin Symphony Orchestra, the Rome Philharmonic, the Turin Philharmonic, the Italian Youth Orchestra, Murcia Symphony Orchestra (Spain), Bucarest Philharmonic Orchestra (Rumania) and the Symphony Orchestra of the Italian Opera Company which nominated him principal guest conductor. In 1999 he founded the Sabaudian Music Accademy taking the role of Artistic Director and in December of the same year he debutted on the podium of the Teatro Regio of Turin. In 2000 he won the European Young Conductors Competition which lead to his studying with maestro Carlo Maria Giulini for two years at the Fiesole Music School from which he once again won the European Competition, following which he took over the position teaching director in Fiesole. He was recently invited by maestro Lorin Maazel to take part in the inaugural Maazel/Vilar Conductors' Competition.
