Tavynho Bonfa is not only a fine composer, but a prodigious guitarist, arranger and singer as well.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Tavynho Bonfa began playing the guitar at the age of 9, guided by his uncle; he soon revealed an exceptional talent passed on by the famous artist Luiz Bonfá.

Tavynho Bonfa started out his career as a member of the duo Burnier and Cartier in 1973, by which time he had already toured Spain in 1971, as a member of the Brazil Aquarius Jazz group. His song writing ability was responsible for the success of many famous Brazilian artists such as Fafá de Belém and Roupa Nova.

In Australia he performed at the Sydney Opera House with Don Burrows, with Azimuth in San Diego and in New York at the Fat Tuesday's Club with Luiz Bonfá.

"Moscow Nights", his unreleased album contains a repertoire of great artistic significance. Guitar is the most personal instrument.

Emotions and their evocations are the very substance of any performance by this fine and prolific composer. This truly splendid guitarist. This unpretentious, warmly intimate, and very gifted artist.
