TURN ON SOUND AS HELEN & HARVEY
ARE NOW PLAYING:
"Andante Cantabile & Allegro con fuoco"
from Seven Songs without Words by
Felix Mendelssohn

Helen and Harvey Davies, mother and son, have worked together professionally since 1992. Since then they have built a reputation as one of the foremost exponents of contemporary piano duet repertoire in Britain.
Composers who have written for the Davies Duo include Richard Stoker, Jeffrey Lewis, John Metcalf, Brian Hughes, Nicola LeFanu, Bill Connor and James Ledger. Eric Sweeney recently arranged three of his pieces, Drive 1, Song and Drive 2 for Helen and Harvey to play at the Vale of Glamorgan Festival 2000. In February 2001 they gave a recital at the Waterford New Music Week which was recorded for RTE's classical music programme Lyric FM.
Their large repertoire includes many of the standard classical, romantic and impressionist works for piano duet. They also have a special interest in British music for four hands and in the resurrection of neglected eighteenth and nineteenth century pieces, many of which Harvey has in his collection of antiquarian sheet music.
Helen and Harvey have given recitals at Music Clubs and Festivals throughout Britain, and at the Northern Aldborough and Vale of Glamorgan Festivals. In March 2002 they completed a very successful second tour of Scotland.
Helen and Harvey premiered a new duet entitled "Emyn" (Hymn) by Pwyll ap Sion at Dolgellau Music Club in January 2003.
They also gave the premiere of Alun Hoddinott's Sonata (written for them) at Bangor University in December 2004
