Basso! Basso! brings together two leading international bassists and together they perform a wide-ranging and eclectic repertoire spanning over 400 years of musical history.
Virtuosic Bottesini sits alongside South American tango's in their innovative and entertaining concert programmes, and they have recently commissioned a new and exciting repertoire from composers such as Tony Osborne (Firefly), Eric Funk (Music in the Olden Style), Emily Howard (The Lisbon Suite), Murray 'Doc' Solomon (Lonely Ways), Beth Anderson (Cleveland Swale), John Alexander, Kevin Malone, Dalwyn Henshall, Teppo Hauta-aho, Tjeerd Oostendorp and Cheryl Frances-Hoad.
Basso! Basso! will record their first CD in 2002, featuring a varied and impressive range of styles and idioms, including a number of commissions. They have concerts and workshops scheduled in Britain, Holland, Denmark and USA throughout 2002/3.
Concert repertoire includes music by Giovanni Bottesini, J.B.Vanhal, Stefan Schafer, Tony Osborne, Miloslav Gajdos, Teppo Hauta-aho, Gioacchino Rossini, F.J. Haydn, Thomas Morley, Henry VIII, Robert Lindley, Neil Day and Murray 'Doc' Solomon.
