Larry graduated from the Royal College of Music, London.Studies : Composition, Double Bass, Conducting.
Joined Boyd Neel Chamber Orchestra and later, London Symphony and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, playing double bass. Subsequently played bass free-lance in all areas of the profession from Opera to Rock.
In 1966, joined BBC Radio as Arranger, working in Light Entertainment department. Transferred to TV to work on new show, "Top of the Pops", doing the show live each week, for three years.

Since 1971 has worked commercially mainly in realm of Cinema and TV Films (as far back as 1961 had worked on "Lawrence of Arabia") and, to date, has completed arranging or orchestrating over 130 Film Scores.

Following an eight year period from 1979 living in Spain and the USA and working also at his other career of Painter, continued Film and Recording work with Instrumental Albums of music by Abba, John Denver and Harry Belafonte. Returned to Britain in 1987 and joined Howard Blake, composer of "The Snowman", and assisted him with the completion of five major concert works .(See Credit list)

That year had also returned to the world of Film Music having met Patrick Doyle who was about to start on the score for Kenneth Branagh's "Henry V", Patrick's first feature film. For their work on this picture Patrick and Larry won an Ivor Novello Award (best film score). Has now scored nearly all Pat's pictures and also a number of scores for three other British composers, Trevor Jones, Rachel Portman and Jenny Muskett, and while in the US has also worked with several composers including Lawrence Rosenthal and Basil Poledouris.
In the field of Concert Music he has orchestrated Three ballets for composer Paul Reade : "Hobson's Choice", "Far from the Madding Crowd" and "Byron", all for Birmingham Royal Ballet. For Patrick Doyle, scored "The Thistle and the Rose", a song cycle for soprano, chorus and orchestra, commissioned by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales to commemorate the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.

RCA Records commissioned him to write and arrange for the American clarinettist, Richard Stolzman, music by Gerald Finzi and Larry himself, on an album of English music. This year he arranged a newly discovered piece by Armstrong Gibbs for the Guildhall String Ensemble which will be premiered at the Wigmore Hall in November. They have already recorded it on the Hyperion label.

Recent film workhas been centered around a French picture, "East West" and arrangements and orchestrations for the Kenneth Branagh Musical production of "Love's Labour's Lost", and more recently Bridget Jones's Diary.
