ARTEXIM was founded as a public institution of the Romanian Ministry of Culture in March 1990. The new artistic management took over some of the most important elements of the ancient Romanian management agency - ARIA. It was very difficult in those times to convince the Romanian artists and the world-wide partners that the new Romanian artists management is not the same communist and "security" structure. That's because it was a hard work to create a "new look" in this activity. We made a selection of the persons and activities and in the same time we were subject of selection to our international partners.
After the Romanian Revolution, the Ministry of Culture gave the possibility to the interested persons and institutions to develop their own artistic management and the result of such a politics is the huge number of Romanian agents now : more then 300 licenses.
But life proved that it's not enough to want to "make money" ; it's necessary to have the abilities and the modalities to make such a work. In the same time it is necessary to respect the laws and the taxes and this is not a thing that is very clear now.
Now we consider we are a strong and complex company, whose activity is oriented towards the main chapters related to art: Artists' Management: shows, concerts, tours and festivals organizer, trade and consulting in show technology.
ARTEXIM is member of the I.S.P.A.A. (International Society of Performing Arts Administrators) and of the "European Association of Concert Agents and I.A.M.A. (international Artists' Management Association).
Artists represented by ARTEXIM perform all musical and artistic genres: symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, choirs, opera and ballet companies; outstanding individual artists: conductors, singers, instrumentalists.
ARTEXIM organized international tours with important companies as the Romanian National Opera, the "George Enescu" Philharmonic Orchestra, the "Madrigal" Choir", as well as other important artists. Such tours and engagements were appreciated by the critics.
Beside the international artistic management, ARTEXIM, empowered by the Romanian Ministry of Culture, organizes in Romania the international events of grand elite : The International Festival and Competition "GEORGE ENESCU" (1991, 1995 and 1998), the International Pop Festivals "Bucharest" and "The Golden Stag"
In both events, well-known soloists, groups and orchestras participated: Sandra, Bonney M., Albano & Romina Power, Bonnie Tyler, LaToya Jackson, Boy George Technotronic, Jenniffer Rush and Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones Ray Charles and Diana Ross - in the "pop" festivals, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, RTVE Madrid, Bayerischer Rundfunksinphonieorchester, Sankt Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Radio Stuttgart Sinphonieorchester, Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, George Prêtre, Radu Lupu, Michel Beroff, Guenady Rojdestvensky, Jean Philippe Collard, Paul Badura Skoda, Festival Strings Luzern, Brescia & Bergamo Chamber Orchestra, Saint Martin in the Fields, Fiorenza Cossotto, Michioshi Inoue, Gerhard Oppitz and many others - in the "George Enescu" Festival.
Lord Yehudi Menuhin and Mr. Lawrence Foster are the Honorary president and respectively the Artistic Director of the Festival - 1998 edition. We have the confirmation for : Orchestre National de France conducted by Lawrence Foster, Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Barenboim, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Milano, Budapest Festival Orchestra conducted by Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Serge Baudo, Phillippe Entremont, Radu Lupu, Peter Donohoe, Salvatore Accardo, Pascal Roge - Chantal Juillet, Neunecker/ Gavriloff / Aimard, "Bartok" Quartet, "Alban Berg" Quartet, "Moscow Virtuosi", Shlomo Mintz, the best Romanian Orchestras and soloists.
But in our activity we have to take into account three major things :
If the credibility and the quality are our responsibility, we are looking for the help of the European Artistic and Management Community in creating an available co-operation as well as an international evaluation system. I think that the above mentioned points could be subject of the future seminar organized during the "George Enescu" Festival.
