Paul Chamberlain

I am an experienced accordionist from the Scottish Borders and am currently based in Manchester, and so am in an ideal location for travelling to different parts of the UK. I play a very wide range of light music eg. continental and Scottish music, as well as a classical repertoire. I play both piano accordion, and free-bass button accordion.

The possibilities for classical music are quite extensive and music such as Bach, Mozart and Scarlatti can be very effective played on the accordion. There is also quite a range of classical accordion music, and chamber music available. I have won many prizes in accordion competitions in the UK, and and have held five national titles. I have also visited Russia twice to play in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Last year I competed in an international competition held in Italy.

I study currently with Dr. Djordie Gajic, originally from Yugoslavia but now living in Glasgow, himself a former world champion.

As well as the classical side I can play Scottish music for Ceilidhs and Weddings, under the heading of Scotbox Ceilidh Band. We can provide from a three piece to a five piece band. We are actually due to go out to Moscow in about a week to perform in a two-week festival of Scottish Culture being held there.

I was recently involved in organising a Scottish Stage show "The Pride of Scotland", which featured professional male and female vocalists, highland dancers, pipe band, Scottish Dance band, and was compered by comedian Eddie Rose from Pitlochry. We are planning to use some of the material from this show for Dinner-Caberet.
